Some states require that you apply separately for exemption from certain state-level taxes. If your state requires this paperwork, your Account Manager will help you file the necessary paperwork.
Frequently asked questions
How long will it take to get my 501C3 Status?
It depends on the state in which you are incorporating, but generally organizations using the 1023EZ can expect 4-5 months from start to 501c3 determination and organizations using the 1023 can expect 6-8 months. The IRS dates its determination of exempt organizations to the date of incorporation.
Once i sign up what happen?
Once you sign up, you will receive an email with instructions to log into your Philips Nonprofit consulting member account
In your account, you will complete a quick questionnaire that will give our team the information needed to get started on all of your paperwork.

If you will need to apply for your 501c3 using the full 1023, we will have an additional questionnaire to collect additional and more detailed information on your organizations activities and financial projections.
As soon as we receive your questionnaire, our team will began your state incorporation.
Once your incorporation is approved, an EIN will be obtained on your behalf.
After that, a draft of your IRS 1023 or 1023EZ application will be drafted and sent for your review. Upon approval, you will be charged the IRS filing fee and your application will be submitted!

1023EZ applications take approximately 3 months for approval.

1023 applications take approximately 5-8 months for approval (the IRS does allow for expedited processing in very specific instances).
What is the require information needed to be to get started ?
To get started on your paperwork we will need:

A name for your organization

An address for your organization (can be a home address as you start out)

Three board members

A registered agent in the state in which you are incorporating (you can be the organization’s registered agent!)
What if my organization is already incorporated?
If your organization is already incorporated and aligns properly with IRS requirements for tax exempt status, Resilia is able to offer a discount on any of our packages. If it's not, we've got your back too and will help to ensure that all your foundational paperwork is up to date and up to requirements (no discount is offered if amendments must be filed or entity type changed)
